Text Box: 1) Problem: Power plant in New England needed to install mechanical seal for a heavy oil pump, but set screws wouldn’t fit on the pump shaft sleeve. The set screws landed on a shaft sleeve shoulder. 2) Circumstances prior to failure: Mechanical seal set screws were not fitting on the pump shafts sleeve. The pump shaft sleeve was too short. It needed to be longer. 3) Pumpcoat Solution Pumpcoat designed and our vendor manufactured a special shaft sleeve customized for the pump. The customer was then able to install the mechanical seal.
